Er ist einer unter vielen und gleichzeitig ist er jedermann. Schwarz ist ein Roman uber einen jungen Mann Ende Zwanzig, der sich der Routine seines bescheidenen Arbeiterlebens ergeben hat. Keine Hohepunkte, keine Ereignisse, keine Emotionen - der Protagonist sehnt sich seit dem Verlust seiner Mutter nach Liebe und Geborgenheit. Eintonigkeit zeichnet den Alltag eines gewohnlichen Angestellten aus, der in einem Startup-Unternehmen direkt an der Spree in Berlin tatig ist. Er kann sich im Allgemeinen nicht beschweren: Sein Gehalt ist hoch genug, um sich eine Monatskarte zu leisten, aber nicht hoch genug, um das Leben in seinem ganzen Ausmass geniessen zu konnen. Aus der Langeweile heraus beobachtet der Unbekannte sein Umfeld und entwickelt sich nach und nach zu einem Misanthropen. Einzig seine Vorliebe fur Kunst und Literatur halt ihn noch am Leben. Als Einzelganger besteht seine Hauptaufgabe darin, sich selbst zu beschaftigen, um nicht verruckt zu werden. Abweichungen im Tagesrhythmus sind fur ihn der blanke Horror, auch das Zuhause ist penibel sauber gehalten und das Interieur bis ins kleinste Detail aufeinander abgestimmt. Uber Besuch kann sich der Ich-Erzahler nicht freuen, seit seiner Jugend gibt es niemanden mehr, der sich mit ihm angefreundet hat. So ist der Charakter gepragt von Einsamkeit, der Hoffnung auf Liebe, der Sehnsucht nach Aufmerksamkeit und dem Drang, nach aussen hin perfekt zu wirken. Bis eines Tages Levi das Buro betritt und das Leben des geheimnisvollen Mannes komplett aus den Angeln hebt. Schwarz ist mehr als nur ein Buch uber Alltagserlebnisse. Es ist vielmehr eine Geschichte uber das, was es heisst, ein Mensch zu sein."
