About the Book

This work is a collection of 21 articles by authors from eight countries including the UK, Canada, France, Czech Republic, India, and the Ukraine. The contributors discuss Mikhail Bulgakov (1891-1940) against the literary and theatrical background, both of his own lifetime and in the context of the current multicultural, polycentric era. The different viewpoints seek to present a picture of Bulgakov in 20th-century culture and provoke further enquiry.
