About the Book

Sehnsucht, das Thema des deutschen Pavillons der 12. Architekturbiennale in Venedig, ist eine grundlegende emotionale Triebfeder architektonischen Handelns. In dem Band wird der Pavillon mit seinen atmospharischen, die verschiedenen Sinne ansprechenden Raumen als Ausstellungsstuck interpretiert und zu einem Sehnsuchtsort aufgeladen. Das Buch ist als eigenstandiger Beitrag komplementar zur Ausstellung konzipiert. Bilder und Texte nahern sich dem Thema Sehnsucht aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven z. B. der der Kunst, Literatur, Architektur und Musik.

About the Author :
Die Walverwandtschaften sind ein Kollektiv bestehend aus Cordula Rau, Eberhard Troger und Ole W. Fischer. Cordula Rau, geboren 1961, ist Architektin und freie Journalistin in Munchen. Sie publiziert in zahlreichen Medien, wie DETAIL, Bauwelt, Deutsches Architektenblatt, archplus, NZZ, zeno, industrieBAU und H.O.M.E. Zuletzt erschien das von ihr herausgegebene Buch Why Do Architects Wear Black? im Springer-Verlag. Eberhard Troger, geboren 1969, studierte Architektur an der TU Berlin und im Nachdiplomstudium Theorie und Geschichte der Architektur am Institut gta der ETH Zurich. Neben zahlreichen Lehrauftragen und Vortragstatigkeiten ist er seit 2006 wissenschaftlicher Assistent am Lehrstuhl Prof. Gregor Eichinger an der ETH Zurich. Ole W. Fischer, geboren 1974, ist Architekt, Theoretiker, Kurator und Hochschullehrer in Boston. Er studierte Architektur an der Bauhausuniversitat Weimar und der ETH Zurich. Am Institut gta der ETH unterrichtete er Architekturtheorie von 2002-08 und promovierte zum Dr. sc. ETH. Er erhielt zahlreiche internationale Stipendien und Forschungsauftrage. Seit 2009 ist er Research Fellow an der Harvard Graduate School of Design und seit 2010 Gastprofessor fur Geschichte, Theorie und Kritik der Architektur am MIT, USA.
