Der Autor wird zwei Studien nacheinander analysieren, die Hauptergebnisse miteinander vergleichen und kritisch diskutieren, sowie einen Ausblick auf mögliche Bereiche weiterführender Forschung geben. In Zeiten von Globalisierung, Fachkräftemangel, kurzen Produktlebenszyklen und schnellen Veränderungen nimmt der Wettbewerbsdruck von Unternehmen stetig zu. Organisationen müssen sich immer schneller Veränderungen anpassen und eine sehr hohe Innovationsfähigkeit entwickeln, um am dynamischen Markt bestehen zu können. Die andauernde ökonomische und gesellschaftliche Entwicklung sowie das deutlich höhere Tempo, die mit den Veränderungen einhergehen, verlangen zudem mehr Selbstständigkeit, Flexibilität und ständige Erreichbarkeit jedes Einzelnen. Jeder Mensch, egal ob groß oder klein bzw. jung oder alt, bringt im Gegensatz zu Maschinen nicht jeden Arbeits-bzw. Alltag die gleiche Leistung. Abhängig von den jeweiligen Launen, Emotionen und Bedürfnissen, die im inneren verborgen liegen und von außen meistens nicht direkt erkennbar und steuerbar sind, steigt bzw. sinkt die Effektivität in Form von Arbeitsmoral und Motivation, was letztendlich auch die Ergebnisse der Arbeitstätigkeit direkt beeinflusst. Dies lässt die Annahme zu, dass Mitarbeiter zwar die reichste, jedoch auch die am schwierigsten zu organisierende und am wenigsten berechen -bzw. kalkulierbare Ressource einer Organisation darstellen. Es ist daher vor Allem die Aufgabe der Führungskräfte, ihre Mitarbeiter zu Bestleistungen zu motivieren, damit diese ihr volles Leistungspotenzial ausschöpfen können.
