Essay aus dem Jahr 2013 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Komparatistik, Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft, Note: 1,0, Universität Augsburg, Veranstaltung: Theatre francophone, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: 2011 kam der Film "Monsieur Lazhar" von Philippe Falardeau au den Markt und wurde im darauffolgenden Jahr bei der Oscarverleihung sogar für den besten fremdsprachigen Film nominiert. Der Film machte die großen Schwierigkeiten, die politische Flüchtlinge in dem großen Asylland Kanada haben, weltweit bekannt. Seine Popularität zeigte die große Relevanz der Probleme, mit welchen sich Einwanderer jeden Tag in Form von sprachlichen und sozialen Barrieren tagtäglich konfrontiert sehen, sowie die seelischen Versehrtheiten, die mit der Flucht aus dem eigenen Land oftmals einhergehen. Der Film basiert auf dem in Kanada überaus erfolgreichen Drama "Bashir Lazhar" von Évelyne de la Chenelière, die wenige Jahre zuvor mit "Des fraises en janvier" ihren internationalen Durchbruch hatte und später den Prix littéraire de langue française du gouverneur général für ihre literarischen Leistungen erhielt. "Bashir Lazhar", ein algerischer Immigrant, dessen Familie einem Mordanschlag zum Opfer gefallen ist, ist nach Kanada geflüchtet und ersucht dort um Asyl und sucht nach Arbeit. Er übernimmt einen Lehrerposten in einer Schule, welcher frei geworden ist, da sich die vorangegangene Lehrerin im Klassenzimmer erhängt hatte. Lazhar und seine Schüler helfen sich gegenseitig beim Umgang mit ihren Schicksalsschlägen und bauen eine Beziehung zueinander auf. Zwar bekommt Lazhar eine Aufenthaltsgenehmigung der kanadischen Regierung, jedoch wird in der Schule aufgedeckt, dass er kein qualifizierter Lehrer, weshalb er die Schule verlassen muss. Im Folgenden wird das Drama "Bashir Lazhar" von Évelyne de la Chenelière darüber untersucht, in wie weit sich darin Darstellungen von traumatisierten Personen finden und welche etwaige Bedeutung dies für die moderne kanadische und speziell quebecanische Lite
