About the Book

Nach den Grundlagen und Bauelementen in den Bänden IA und IB werden in Band IIA die Tragwerke des Massivbaus behandelt: Stabtragwerke, Decken, Faltwerke und Schalen in ihren verschiedensten Erscheinungsformen und Kombinationen im Hochbau, Tiefbau und Brückenbau. Um das Verständnis des Tragverhaltens zu schulen, werden die jeweils typischen und den verschiedenen Anwendungsformen gemeinsamen Eigenschaften herausgestellt und an Beispielen erläutert, wobei das Erkennen der mechanischen Hintergründe die oberste Leitlinie darstellt. Damit soll zuvorderst zum zweckmäßigen und "gesunden" Tragwerksentwurf beigetragen werden. Angaben zur Berechnung, Bemessung und konstruktiven Durchbildung weisen schließlich den Weg zur Verwirklichung des Entwurfes. Auch wichtige Gesichtspunkte der Bauausführung fehlen dabei nicht. Die meisten Kapitel dieses Bandes sind gegenüber der Vorauflage wesentlich erweitert, was sich auch in dem nahezu verdoppelten Umfang auswirkt; völlig neue Hauptabschnitte über Stockwerkbauten und Türme verlagern den Schwerpunkt der Konstruktionslehre von der Untersuchung der Einzeltragwerke zur Betrachtung ganzer Bauwerke.
