Einleitung Medien bilden aufgrund ihrer Funktion als Vermittlungsinstanz zwischen den Wählern undden Gewählten der Politik, eine wesentliche Grundlage des demokratischen Staates. Politiker und Politikerinnen die sich zur Wahl stellen, können sich über die Medien präsentieren und ihre politischen Inhalte vermitteln, während die Wählenden wiederum medial über die Politik der Machtinhabenden informiert werden und ihre Anliegen an die Politik weitergeben können. Eine werturteilsfreie Vermittlung und Darstellung der Politiker und Politikerinnen wäre demnach notwendig, um ein ausgewogenes Bild ihrer Kompetenzen, Leistungen und Ziele für das Wählervolk zu zeichnen. Die Präsenz der PolitikerInnen in den Medien ist generell ein wichtiges Kriterium, damit sie von der Wählerschaft wahrgenommen werden können, was sich entsprechend auf ihre Wahlchancen sowie die damit verbundene politische Laufbahn auswirkt.1 Allerdings präsentierten sich sowohl die Politik als auch die Medien über einen langen Zeitraum als vorwiegend männlich besetzte und beherrschte Institutionen und weisen dementsprechend androzentrische Strukturen und männliche Spielregeln auf.2 Auch die werturteilsfreie Vermittlung von Inhalten funktioniert nur bedingt, da Medien nicht nur zum Transport von Informationen dienen, sondern diese auch selektieren und mit Wertungen verknüpfen.3 Aufgrund der androzentrischen Strukturen und der Medienwirkung, erscheint es daher notwendig zu überprüfen, ob Politikerinnen dieselbe Berücksichtigung in den Medien finden wie ihre männlichen Kollegen und ob sich ihre prozentuale Repräsentanz im Politikgeschäft im richtigen Verhältnis in den Medien wiederspiegelt oder ob eine geschlechtsspezifischeBenachteiligung vorliegt.
