Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Theaterwissenschaft, Tanz, Note: 1,0, Universität Leipzig (Theaterwissenschaft), Veranstaltung: Differenz und Devianz oder die Theatralisierung des "Anderen", Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der französische Philosoph und Historiker Michel Foucault (1926-1984) hat sich in seinem Werk wie in seinen Vorlesungen, die er zwischen 1971 und 1984 am Collège de France hielt, vielfach mit verschiedenen Erscheinungsformen des Anormalen, des Monströsen beschäftigt und ihre Geschichte untersucht. In seiner 1975 gehaltenen Vorlesung mit dem Titel Die Anormalen stellt Foucault gesellschaftlich stigmatisierte Personengruppen in der Zeit des Mittelalters bis zum 20. Jahrhundert vor. Dabei führt er detaillierte Herleitungen ihrer Formierung durch und liefert Hintergründe zu der Frage, warum diese Personen gesellschaftlich ausgestoßen waren und als Monster, bzw. später als Anormale, betrachtet wurden. Dieser Aspekt steht häufig in unmittelbarem Zusammenhang mit der Justiz und dem Strafsystem. Gleichzeitig ist die genannte Vorlesung thematisch eng mit Foucaults im selben Jahr erschienenen und somit in der Zeit vorher entstandenen Buch Überwachen und Strafen verknüpft. Es ist daher sinnvoll, beides parallel zu betrachten, da viele Gedanken, die Foucault in der Vorlesung anspricht, erst durch die zusätzliche Lektüre von Überwachen und Strafen ganz begreifbar werden oder sich gegenseitig ergänzen. Weiterhin wird ein Punkt der Vorlesung, in dem es um das zu bessernde Individuum geht, aus Zeitmangel nur oberflächlich behandelt. In Überwachen und Strafen findet sich diese Figur des Unverbesserlichen wieder und wird vor dem Hintergrund neuer Disziplinierungstechniken im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert genauer untersucht. Foucault verwendet immer wieder die Begriffe 'Theater' und 'Schauspiel', wenn er über das Monströse und dessen Bestrafung oder Behandlung spricht.
