Grassroots Journalism, Individualjournalismus, Pseudojournalismus, Community Journalism, Gegenjournalismus - diese und viele ahnliche Bezeichnungen hort und liest man immer wieder, wenn es um die Tatigkeit von Webloggern geht. Doch was unterscheidet Bloggen vom klassischen Journalismus der Massenmedien? Ist es uberhaupt gerechtfertigt, Autoren von Weblogs als (Prafix-)Journalisten zu bezeichnen? Werden Blogs die etablierten Printmedien in Zukunft vielleicht sogar verdrangen?Mit diesen und weiteren Fragen beschaftigt sich die vorliegende Arbeit. Dabei wird mit den Begriffsklarungen von Weblog und Journalismus zunachst eine theoretische Grundlage geschaffen. Im darauf folgenden Abschnitt werden beide Publikationsformen anhand ausgewahlter Kriterien verglichen, zum Beispiel in Hinsicht auf formale Merkmale der Beitrage, Erreichen von Qualitat und Glaubwurdigkeit sowie die Rolle des Gatekeepers. Da Weblogs die neuere und brisantere der beiden Formen darstellen, stehen sie im Hauptfokus der Diskussion. Im Anschluss wird betrachtet, inwiefern Blogs und klassischer Journalismus als Konkurrenz oder sich erganzende Genres zu sehen sind. Ein kurzes Fazit schliesst die Arbeit ab.Um neben Journalisten und Wissenschaftlern auch Blogger selbst zu Wort kommen zu lassen, wurde im Vorfeld der Arbeit per E-Mail eine Kurzumfrage durchgefuhrt, an der sich vier der angeschriebenen Weblog-Autoren beteiligten. Zu den Befragten zahlt Bernd Gunter, der in seinem Kopfschuttel-Blog uber die unterhaltsamen Erlebnisse mit seiner 'Liebsten' berichtet. Der zweite Blogger ist Jorg Kantel, dessen Schockwellenreiter einer der bekanntesten deutschsprachigen Blogs ist (vgl. http: //neuberger.uni-muenster.de/weblogs/). Ausserdem haben sich Achim Barczok, Inhaber des handschriftlich gefuhrten Tintenblogs, und Bjorn Harste, der als 'Shopblogger' uber Einkaufserlebnisse und -Skurilitaten berichtet, den Fragen gestellt. Die Antworten der Blogger werden an den gegebenen Stellen im Text zitiert und finden sich in vollstandiger Form im Anhang der Arbeit wiede
