Wahrend das rationale (Entscheidungs-)Verhalten anhand zahlreicher Theorien unterschiedlichster Disziplinen erklart wird, ist die Suche nach (wissenschaftlichen) Uberlegungen oder Modellen hinsichtlich irrationalen Verhaltens in Organisationen ungleich schwieriger - und das, obwohl der Mythos der Rationalitat in und von Organisationen zunehmend aufgeweicht wird. Moderne Theorien, wie jene des Institutionalismus oder die Rational Choice Theorie stimmen uberein, dass Organisationen nicht (notwendigerweise) effizient sind und nach streng rationalen Massstaben operieren. So besagt das Rational-Choice-Theorem, dass jegliches Verhalten individuell intentional ist und dass Akteure nur ihren individuellen Interessen (wie objektiv verruckt diese auch sein mogen) folgen. 'Dummheit' ist dabei nichts anderes als unvollstandige Information, die es im Ubermass gibt. Auch Scott Adams liefert mit seinen Uberlegungen rund um das 'Dilbert-Prinzip' einen moglichen (mit einem Augenzwicker versehenen) Erklarungsansatz hinsichtlich des Zustandekommens absurder und irrationaler Verhaltensweisen in Organisationen. Adams, US-amerikanischer Cartoonist, Buchautor und Erfinder von 'Dilbert' geht davon aus, dass Individuen von Natur aus 'dumm' und daher zu rationalem Verhalten, verstarkt durch eine zunehmend komplexere Umwelt nicht in der Lage sind. In der vorliegenden Arbeit werden die Adams'schen Uberlegungen uber die Absurditat und Irrationalitat individuellen Handelns in Organisationen als eine Art radikaler Skeptizismus am organisationalen Rationalitatspostulat verstanden.Ziel der Untersuchung ist es, nicht nur Adams' radikalen Skeptizismus an der Rationalitat individuellen Handelns und Entscheidens zu erlautern, sondern seine Uberlegungen auch im Lichte funf ausgewahlter, klassischer Organizational Behavior-Ansatze zu analysieren. Dabei gilt es im Rahmen dieser Arbeit folgende Fragen zu beantworten: Was ist unter radikalen Skeptizismus an der Rationalitat in Organisationen zu verstehen? Wodurch lasst sich die Irrationalitat von Organisationen in Scott Adams Theorie begrunden? Welche Rolle und welches Verhalten kommen dabei den Individuen zu? Wo lassen sich Unterschiede und Gemeinsamkeiten zwischen Scott Adams' Theorie und ausgesuchten Theorien aus dem Organizational Behavior-Ansatzes ausmache
