Diese Diplomarbeit mochte dazu anregen, eine Pause zwischen dem Auftreten des Konflikts und seiner Behandlung einzulegen. Dies ist insbesondere deshalb wichtig, da bei Auftreten von Konflikten in der Zusammenarbeit haufig die Tendenz besteht, Erstere ganz schnell losen oder ignorieren zu wollen. Gleichzeitig stellt jeder Konflikt eine emotionale Belastung und Stresssituation dar, in der eine beteiligte Person nicht mehr hundertprozentig handlungsfahig ist. Aus diesem Grund, ist es wichtig im Konfliktfall einen gewissen Abstand zu gewinnen, um zu verstehen und zu erkennen, was, uberhaupt geschehen ist. Das, was Konflikte verkompliziert ist, dass sie immer zu Irritationen unter den Beteiligten fuhren. Konflikte haben ein gemeinsames Merkmal; sie werden in der Regel als Storungen des alltaglichen Lebens empfunden. Diese Storungen sind immer mit Emotionen verbunden, wie innerlicher Anspannung, Druck, Angst oder Gereiztheit (vgl. Berkel 1999, 12). Durch diese Irritationen, wie sie Berkel beschreibt, kann die Funktionsfahigkeit eines Systems, wie es eine Organisation, eine Einrichtung oder ein Projekt darstellt, erheblich beeintrachtigt werden. Diesbezuglich gilt: "Nicht der Konflikt ist das Malheur, sondern die Unfahigkeit eines Menschen oder einer Organisation ihn zu regeln" (Beck und Schwarz 2000, 25). Entsteht ein Konflikt zwischen zwei oder mehreren Personen, konnen sie diesen in der Regel unter sich losen. Ist der Konflikt hingegen eskaliert und die Fronten haben sich verhartet, benotigen die Beteiligten professionel
