Um den standig andernden Umwelteinflussen entsprechend zu begegnen, mussen Organisationen vor allem ein hohes Mass an Flexibilitat und Wandlungsfahigkeit aufweisen. Um dies gewahrleisten zu konnen ist es zwingend erforderlich, dass eine Organisation lernt. Lernen wird damit zu einem alles entscheidenden Wettbewerbsfaktor So ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass in den letzten Jahren eine verstarkte Diskussion um die 'Lernende Organisation' beziehungsweise das 'Organisationslernen' zu beobachten war. Dies ist nicht zuletzt auch auf die Tatsache zuruckzufuhren, dass die Arbeiten uber Lernende Organisationen und Organisationslernen rasch den Ubergang von der Theorie in die praktische Anwendung gefunden haben. Vor allem in der Managementlehre war diese Entwicklung zu beobachten. Den Durchbruch schaffte Peter Senge mit seinem Buch 'Die funfte Disziplin', das es in die Bestseller-Listen schaffte und heute auf dem Gebiet der Managementforschung eines der meistzitierten Werke darstellt. Es wird jedoch zurecht darauf hingewiesen, dass den praktischen Konzepten des Organisationslernens oftmals eine organisationstheoretische Fundierung fehlt. An dieser Stelle wird die vorliegende Arbeit ansetzen. Sie wird das Hauptwerk 'Die funfte Disziplin' von Peter Senge kritisch hinsichtlich theoretischer Uberlegungen zum Organisationslernen untersuchen. Dabei werden die Autoren feststellen, dass Senges Ansatz im Rahmen einer wissenschaftlich orientierten Perspektive schwer mit anderen - insbesondere der Diskurstheorie - zu verknupfen ist, sondern stattdessen eine idealtypische Form von Managementliteratur darstellt, die sich scheinbar vom wissenschaftlichen Diskurs zum Thema Organisationslernen abgewendet hat und eine rein praktische und dabei zum Teil legitimierende Funktion ausubt.
