In dieser Arbeit wollen wir uns mit der Problematik des Sinns und Zwecks vom Wissensmanagementin der Wirtschaft beschaftigen. Es soll erortert werden, ob es sich beim Wissensmanagement nur umein Modewort, oder um eine Schlusselkompetenz handelt. Hierfur werden wir zuerst versuchen, dierelevanten gesellschaftlichen und wirtschaftlichen Ausloser fur das Interesse fur die Problematik desUmgangs mit Wissen zu beschreiben. Anschliessend wollen wir der Frage nachgehen, was unterWissensmanagement zu verstehen ist. Dabei werden wir vier zentrale Konzeptfamilien zumWissensmanagement vorstellen. Wir werden auch zeigen, mit welchen Instrumenten das Wissengemanaged werden kann. Wir versuchen auch zu erortern, mit welchem 'Wissensmanagement' dieErwartungen an ihn realisiert werden konnen. Somit versuchen wir den Sinn und Zweck desWissensmanagements in Verbindung zu bringen. Die Frage der Rolle vom Wissen in der heutigen Gesellschaft wird heutzutage immer haufigerdiskutiert. Sehr oft problematisiert man dabei den Umgang mit Wissen in Unternehmen. Der BegriffWissensmanagement ist inzwischen in bestimmten Kreisen zum Modewort geworden. So stellt sichdie Frage nach den Grunden fur diesen Trend. Das Interesse fur das Thema Wissen im Unternehmenist wesentlich durch gesellschaftlichen und wirtschaftlichen Wandel bedingt. Wenn man nachKondratieff annimmt, dass die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung periodisch durchlauft, dann konnte mansagen, dass sich die fuhrenden Volkswirtschaften zur Zeit im funften Zyklus befinden1. Dieser funfteZyklus wird oft als globale Informations- und Wissensgesellschaft charakterisiert. In der globalenWissensgesellschaft herrschen neue Umweltbedingungen. Diese Bedingungen speisen auch dasInteresse fur Wissensmanagement und aus diesem Grunde sollen hier besprochen werden.In der Wirtschaft wurden bis vor kurzer Zeit Arbeit, Kapital und Boden als grundlegende Faktoren furdie Produktion betrachtet. Naturlich war auch schon immer das Wissen notwendig, umProduktionsprozesse auszulosen und die Produktionsfaktoren optimal einzusetzen. Die Entwicklungneuer Technologien, starkeren Kundenorientierung und Hyperwettbewerb fuhrte aber dazu, das dieProduktion immer informations- und wissensintensiver wurden. Laut einer empirischen Untersuchungdes Internationalen Institutes fur Lernende Organisationen hat Wissen heutzutage bis zu60prozentigen Anteil an der Wertschopfung westdeutscher Unternehmen.
