Die vorliegende Abhandlung hat eine kurz zusammengefasste Darlegung der Psychologie der Massen bei Gustave Le Bon zum Inhalt, die helfen soll, den Nimbus als Gabe des Fuhrers, der ausserhalb der Masse steht, zu erklaren. Daruber hinaus soll in vergleichender Betrachtung, das Charisma im Werk Max Webers in Kurzform erortert werden. Schliessen soll diese Behandlung der Begriffe Nimbus und Charisma mit einem In- Beziehung - Setzen der Bedeutung beider. Die 'Psychologie der Massen' bei Gustave Le Bon Zu Beginn seines Werkes 'Psychologie der Massen' berichtet Le Bon von dem Eindruck, den er von der gegenwartigen Zeit hat. Er sieht in dem kommenden Zeitalter das 'Zeitalter der Massen' 1 und prophezeit: 'Das gottliche Recht der Massen wird das gottliche Recht der Konige ersetzen.' Die abendlandische Kultur ist nach Le Bons Ansicht bruchig und morsch geworden und ist gegenwartig in Gefahr durch die Macht der Masse ganzlich zusammen zu brechen. Um diesem drohenden Zerfall habhaft zu werden, um ihn aufzuhalten mussen sich die Machthaber die Psychologie der Massen aneignen und so berichtet Le Bon: 'Die Kenntnis der Psychologie der Massen ist heute das letzte Hilfsmittel fur den Staatsmann, der diese nicht etwa beherrschen - das ist zu schwierig geworden -, aber wenigsten nicht allzusehr von ihnen beherrscht werden will.' 3 . So baut Le Bon seine 'Psychologie der Massen' als Hilfe fur die Machthaber auf. Bei seiner Analyse der Massenseele weist Le Bon als erstes auf das psychologische Gesetz von ihrer seelischen Einheit hin. In der Masse gleicht sich der Einzelne der Masse an und opfert seine Interessen dem Interesse der Masse. Seine Personlichkeit schwindet und alle seine Gefuhle und Gedanken weisen in die Richtung der anderen in der Masse. War der Einzelne ausserhalb der Masse ein gebildetes, intelligentes Wesen, so wandelt er sich in der Masse zu einem barbarischen Triebwesen, dessen Handlungen nur vom Affekt beeinflusst werden. Die Handlung der Masse charakterisiert Le Bon als hirnlos, wandelbar und triebhaft. Hierbei geht Le Bon von der Moglichkeit aus, dass 'Wenn die Massen geschickt beeinflusst werden, (...) sie heldenhaft und opferwillig sein.' 4 konnen. Er halt sie also sowohl zur Grausamkeit, als auch zur Hingabe fahig. [.

About the Author :
Professor Christian Wolf graduated from the University of Hamburg, Germany in 1993 where he received his Ph.D. in 1995 under the auspices of Professor Wilfried A. K nig. After working as a postdoctoral Feodor-Lynen Fellow with Professor William H. Pirkle at the University of Illinois in Urbana, Illinois he took an R&D position at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania in 1997. In 2000, he accepted a position as Assistant Professor in the Chemistry Department at Georgetown University in Washington, DC where he was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2006. He has been a visiting scholar at the University of Reading, England in 1991 and at the University of Aix-Marseille, France in 1995. Professor Wolf's research interests comprise stereodynamics of chiral compounds, asymmetric synthesis, stereoselective sensing, chiral recognition, transition metal-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions, development of antimalarial drugs, and chiral chromatography.
