Jeder von uns hat in irgendeiner Form schon einmal mit anderen Menschen zusammen eine Tatigkeit verrichtet. Ob man nun in der Schulzeit mit einem Freund zusammen gelernt hat, ob man beim Fussballspiel mit den Sportkameraden gemeinsam versucht hat, mehr Tore als der Gegner zu schiessen oder ob man am Arbeitsplatz zusammen mit Arbeitskollegen ein Projekt durchgefuhrt hat: In allen Beispielen spielt Zusammenarbeit oder Teamwork eine grosse Rolle, sie findet in Arbeitsgruppen, Lerngruppen, Teams etc. statt. Die Gegenwart kennt viele Begriffe fur ein 'mit mehreren Personen gemeinsam tatig sein'.Was auf dem Sportplatz mit einer gut eingespielten Mannschaft oder in der Lerngruppe bei Kaffee und Kuchen gut funktionieren kann, namlich das gemeinsame Bearbeiten von Problemstellungen mit einer bestimmten Zielverfolgung (hier der Sieg uber das gegnerische Team, dort das Erlernen und Verstehen von Lernstoff), soll auch in der Wirtschaft, in Betrieben klappen.Team- oder Gruppenarbeit als Arbeitsform bzw. Teammanagement als Konzept ist in den letzten Jahren viel diskutiert und teilweise umgesetzt worden, einige Autoren sprechen in diesem Zusammenhang gar von einer Modeerscheinung in der Wirtschaft. Die veranderte Wettbewerbssituation hat viele Unternehmen in den vergangenen Jahren mit neuen Fragen und Herausforderungen konfrontiert und veranlasst, dass eine weitgehend unubersichtliche Vielzahl von Managementkonzepten entworfen und umgesetzt wurde. Viele dieser Konzepte waren jedoch nicht von langer Dauer. Die Bedeutung von sogenannten 'Qualitatszirkeln', durch welche die Mitbestimmung und Eigenverantwortung der einzelnen Mitarbeiter erhoht, Problemlosungen in eigener Regie verwirklicht und somit die Gesamteffizienz des Unternehmens gesteigert werden sollten, war schon seit der 'Japan-Hysterie', wie es Antoni (Antoni, C. 1994) ausdruckt, Anfang der 80er Jahre in aller Munde, sie konnten sich jedoch nicht langfristig in den Management- und Qualitatssicherungskonzepten der Unternehmen etablieren.Die Studie des Massachussets Institute of Technologies (MIT) von 1991 (Womack, Jones & Roos 1991) zeigte am Beispiel der Automobilindustrie die Grenzen des tayloristisch-fordistischen Fertigungs- und Organisationsparadigmas auf und verwies auf die Vorteile der sogenannten 'Lean production', der 'schlanken Produktion' [.
