C'est le participe passé en tant que ressource textuelle propre à l'écrit scientifique qui fait l'objet central de cette thèse. On a en effet observé que, si cette forme est abondante en français courant, elle atteint par ailleurs une fréquence très élevée dans le texte de spécialité. Pour établir la problématique et bien cerner la valeur du participe passé, on offre dans les deux premiers chapitres une synthèse de la réflexion grammaticale sur cette forme, depuis l'ancien français jusqu'à nos jours; on y propose en outre une approche qui permet de saisir et de décrire le participe d'une manière plus systématique. Dans le dernier chapitre, on examine les fonctions textuelles du participe passé dans un corpus de quelques ouvrages étroitement liés, en sciences pures et en sciences humaines. On verra que les rôles du participe sont divers et qu'il s'agit d'une forme riche et plurivoque.

About the Author :
Lise Lapierre est née à Québec. Elle a obtenu sa maîtrise en 1992 et son doctorat en 1995 à l'Université Dalhousie à Halifax en Nouvelle-Écosse (Canada). Elle a écrit sa thèse de doctorat en linguistique française sous la direction de Rostislav Kocourek. Elle enseigne au département d'études françaises de Dalhousie.
