World Guide to Trade Associations: Vol. 1

The two volume "World Guide to Trade Associations" gives you a wealth of detailed information on associations from the industry, commercial, trade and service sectors, based in 185 countries around the world.

Volume I, "Trade Associations" contains entries for no fewer than 23,641 associations including every conceivable field of commercial, service and industrial activity, from the construction industry to demolition firms, from the chocolate and candy trade to dental equipment and dentures and from fire insurance to hoses. In contrast to other, similar reference works "World Guide to Trade Associations" also includes trade unions.

All entries have been verified and revised on the basis of a questionnaire mailed worldwide. E-mail and internet addresses are now included in almost all entries as are details of the association's staff. In a separate index the guide lists 9,834 periodical publications by trade associations, nearly twice as many as were previously covered. References to changes in an association's name and to the closing of associations, where confirmed, have now been included.

The arrangement of contents is both logical and clear, enabling users to get straight to the listings they require. In the main section users can turn to the country which interests them. These are arranged alphabetically according to their English names. Beneath the country heading associations are listed alphabetically by name.

To make access to the contents even simpler, this volume contains an alphabetical index of association names and a subject index, in which associations are grouped according to 390 areas of specialization with 74 additional references, preceded by a German-English concordance to the areas of specialization.

Volume II: "Chambers of Industry and Commerce" contains all chambers of industry and commerce worldwide. This volume includes the chapters "National chambers of industry and commerce," "Bi-national chambers of industry and commerce," and "Associations of chambers of industry and commerce." Besides the names, addresses of associations (including e-mail and internet) and details of leading personnel, the entries include, among other things, the opening hours of the respective organizations. Three indexes help users find information in this volume quickly and efficiently: an alphabetical index of all chamber and association names, an index of persons with the names of presidents and general secretaries, and an index of periodicals.
