About the Book

Der Kongrefi Euro-ARCH'93 setzt die Tradition der GI-Kongresse im Rahmen der SYSTEMS und die Tradition der gemeinsamen Fachtagun- gen des Fachbereichs 3 der GI und des Fachbereichs 4 der ITG mit ei- ner neuen, den aktuellen Entwicklungen entsprechenden Konzeption fort. Er lenkt mit dem Thema Architektur von Rechensystemen in seiner ge- wandelten Bedeutung die Aufmerksamkeit auf die dringend notwendige Integration von Rechensystemen zu Gesamtsystemen und in Gesamtsy- steme. Er fOrdert mit der Gestaltung seines Programms und mit seinen Veranstaltern das Zusammenwirken aller an der Entwicklung zukiinftiger Rechensysteme Beteiligten. Euro-ARCH'93 findet erstmalig als Europa- ischer Informatik Kongre6 unter dem Dach des Council of European Informatics Societies (CEPIS) im Rahmen der SYSTEMS statt. Das Thema Architektur von Rechensystemen ist von zentraler Be- deutung fiir die Rolle, die Rechensysteme als unverzichtbare Hilfsmittel fiir den Umgang mit Information heute und in Zukunft bei der Losung der immer komplexer werdenden Probleme in allen Bereichen un serer Gesell- schaft spielen. Die Rechensysteme, die benotigt werden, sind eingebettet in sozio-technische Systeme, die in der Industrie, in der Wirtschaft und in den Verwaltungen eingesetzt werden. Sie bilden die Informatik-Kerne dieser Systeme und sind die Grundlage dafiir, die vieWiltigen Zusam- menhange in komplexen Ablaufen zu erfassen, zu ordnen und auszuwer- ten.
