About the Book

The ultimate and only reference source in this field, this handbook discusses the latest advances on the reactions leading to the formation of cyclic structures and includes chapters presenting the most synthetically attractive cyclization reactions. Leading chemists from around the world provide authoritative first-hand information, including experimental procedures that offer readers valuable practical information that is otherwise unavailable. An aid for every organic chemist in grasping and applying these new reactions.

About the Author :
Shengming Ma is Professor of Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, East China Normal University and the Director of State Key Laboratory of Organometallic Chemistry, Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC). After obtaining his Ph.D. from SIOC, he spent some time with Professors Venanzi (ETH Zurich, Switzerland) and Negishi (Purdue University, Indiana, USA) as a post-doctoral fellow and returned to China as a faculty member of SIOC in 1997. He has authored over 220 scientific publications and received numerous scientific awards including Mr. and Mrs. Sun Chan Memorial Award in Organic Chemistry and the OMCOS Award. He is also a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Review :
"Chemistry libraries should include Handbook of Cyclization Reactions in their holdings, as researchers at all levels will find it a useful resource. In this book, bench chemists will find direction to the appropriate primary literature needed to move their projects forward while research directors will find a valuable tool for proposal preparation and related amusements". (Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2010) "As editor, Shengming Ma has struck a good compromise in this respect, having limited himself to authors who present interesting new synthetic methods and strategies." (Organic Chemistry Portal, May 2010)
