About the Book

Written by world-renowned authorities in the field, this is the first textbook to cover this important intersection of materials science and physics. Following a section on characterizing disorder, the book goes on to discuss glasses and the glass transition, the modeling of amorphous materials, atomic vibrations and transport, electronic properties, defects and charge transport. Further sections cover photonics and optics, and the whole is rounded off with applications. Additional web-based material is available to support student learning as well as provide required data.
