About the Book

Fillers have been used in polymer technology for over 150 years and as a result, the level of knowledge about their structure, properties, and activity in polymers is very high. However, at the end of 20th Century, as a consequence of nanotechnology development and usage of modern techniques, such as STM, fascinating perspectives of further progress in the area have come to light. The main themes of the Eurofillers'01 Conference, held in Lodz in July 2001, centered on mineral fillers application in the manufacture of tyres synthesis and activity of new types of fillers, new methods of filler characterization, behavior of macromolecules at interfaces, and many other issues. We Hope the reader will get a good insight into the interesting and important problems of this branch of polymer science and technology.
