About the Book

English summary: In 1966, Eberhard Ruschenbusch presented in Historia - Einzelschrift 9 his collection of the fragments of Solon's laws from the year 594 BC in their original language. Now follow, from the estate of the now-deceased author, the translation of the 93 fragments on which Ruschenbusch based the reconstruction of Solon's laws, as well as a scientific commentary that opens up this piece of legislation in all its dimensions and demonstrates Ruschenbusch's unique knowledge, which equally affects the presentation and the legal and social-historical content of the texts. He takes a critical look at earlier literature and maintains that the law of Athens in the Archaic period can only be fully understood when studied in the light of its entire social and legal environment. German text.
