Jahrhunderts, Note: 1,0, Universität zu Köln, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die vorliegende Arbeit soll sich mit der These beschäftigen, dass der Faschismus des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts, seine systematische Vernichtungsideologie und auch der damit verbundene moralische Verfall der Aufklärung nicht diametral gegenüber steht, sondern logisch aus ihr folgt. Im Kern soll hier demnach das Thema des "Juliette" Kapitels behandelt, analysiert und in die Zeit sowie Kants Position eingeordnet werden. Die Dialektik der Aufklärung ist ein Paradebeispiel für ein Buch, das nur in dieser Zeit von diesen Autoren geschrieben werden konnte. Ähnlich wie Anna Seghers "Das siebte Kreuz" oder Ernst Jüngers "In Stahlgewittern" können gewisse Bücher nur in einer bestimmten Epoche entstehen und stehen damit auch stellvertretend für sie. Im Falle von Horkheimer und Adornos gemeinsamer Schrift gilt dies vor allem für die Frage, wie es trotz der Aufklärung zu einer derartigen Regression in den Faschismus kommen konnte. Die Emigration nach Kalifornien gab den beiden Philosophen dabei den nötigen Abstand, um sich der Frage auf einer doch eher unkonventionellen Art anzunehmen. Was wäre, wenn der Faschismus gar nicht der Rückschritt zur Aufklärung, sondern ihre notwendige Folge ist? Kants Motive, so die beiden Philosophen, mögen ehrenwert und ehrlich gewesen sein, doch die wahren Folgen seiner Philosophie senden die Menschheit systematisch in einen technisierten Abgrund, aus dem sie nicht mehr herausfindet. Aufklärung entpuppt sich für Adorno und Horkheimer somit als neuer Mythos. In die Welt getreten, um die Mythen zu beseitigen, schlägt sie denselben Weg ein, wie alle Ideologien vor ihr, die Kant zu beseitigen versuchte.
