Anhand dieses Konflikts soll Caesars Kunst der Selbstdarstellung beispielhaft gezeigt werden. Der Autor geht der Frage nach, wie sich Caesar im Kampf gegen Vercingetorix darstellt und wie er Fürsprecher durch diesen Konflikt gewinnen konnte. Gaius Julius Cäsar gelang es aus einer ärmlichen adeligen Familie bis in die höchsten Kreise Roms aufzusteigen und er schaffte es, zum dictator perpetuusl ernannt zu werden. Die von ihm beherrschte Kunst der Selbstdarstellung machte ihm diese steile Karriere möglich. Cäsar wusste genau, wie er sich als Verteidiger Roms darstellen musste, um die Massen für sich gewinnen zu können. Das Thema der Hausarbeit befasst sich mit dem Konflikt zwischen Cäsar und dem Averner Vercingetorix. Anhand dieses Konflikts soll Cäsars Kunst der Selbstdarstellung beispielhaft gezeigt werden. Die Hausarbeit geht der Frage nach, wie sich Cäsar im Kampf gegen Vercingetorix darstellt und wie er viele Fürsprecher durch diesen Konflikt gewinnen konnte. Zunächst wird der Verlauf des Konflikts zwischen Cäsar und Vercingetorix kurz zusammengefasst, um das Fallbeispiel für die Kunst der Selbstdarstellung zeitlich und inhaltlich besser nachvollziehen zu können. Anschließend wird die Bedeutung der commentarii erklärt, welche Cäsar zur Beschreibung der Ereignisse nutzte. Anhand von Abschnitten aus dem de Bello Gallico Buch VII werden Cäsars Beschreibungen der Ereignisse analysiert. Zum Schluss werden die Ergebnisse der Analyse zusammengefasst. Im Rahmen dieser Hausarbeit werden Monografien sowie Abschnitte aus dem Bellum Gallicum Buch VII genutzt.
