Dieser Sammelband von Aufsätzen über den Epheserbrief ist in drei Abschnitten aufgeteilt. Der erste Abschnitt befaßt sich gründlich mit einführenden Fragen des Aufbaus und des Stils, der Beziehung zur anderen frühchristlichen Literatur und zu Qumran, der Autorschaft, der Adressaten und des sozialen Umfelds. Der zweite Abschnitt enthält eine umfassende Geschichte der frühchristlichen Texte und ihrer Ausgaben unter besonderer Berücksichtigung des Epheserbriefs. Der dritte Abschnitt widmet sich der Interpretation der Texte und Themen, die für das Verständnis des pseudo-paulinischen Briefes von einem jüngeren Schüler und Mitarbeiter Paulus von besonderer Bedeutung sind.
