About the Book

Review :
"[...] an important contribution to the cultural history of the Late Antique and early Byzantine period. The results reported, some for the very first time, significantly enlarge and develop our understanding of the urban development, burial rites, architectural sculpture and religious buildings of the early Byzantine world." Andreas Pülz & Ina Eichner in: Antiquity 91, 356 (2017): 529-532 "The volume under review testifies to the intrinsic worth of collaborative, long-term investigation of complex monuments; it is furthermore exemplary in its inclusion of multiple, sometimes conflicting, interpretations. Editor, authors, and all collaborators are to be congratulated for enriching our understanding of an exceptionally consequential site for the study of late antique Syria." Benjamin Anderson in: BMCR blog (2017), www.bmcreview.org
