En août 1958, Roger Martin du Gard meurt dans sa maison du Tertre. 50 ans plus tard, il semble intéressant de porter un regard critique sur son oeuvre et d'évaluer la portée de celle-ci, en étudiant la valeur du renouvellement littéraire prôné par son auteur. Ce livre, issu d'un colloque international organisé à l'Université de Lleida en octobre 2008, se penche sur la littérature populaire et l'étude de la féminité, au coeur de cette oeuvre monumentale, en proposant de nouvelles approches et interprétations. Dans un premier temps se dégage une réflexion théorique sur la création littéraire, les influences et la définition même de roman populaire ou de littérature populaire envisagées du point de vue de l'écrivain et de son entourage. La deuxième ligne de force se focalise sur la femme et ses rapports avec la problématique populaire, privilégiant les personnages féminins martiniens qui possèdent le plus de caractéristiques empruntées au romanesque et au populaire. L'ensemble des contributions offre une richesse plurielle et centrée sur l'analyse de la création littéraire d'un point de vue théorique, en cherchant à délimiter la portée et les limites du populaire, et d'un point de vue thématique en s'attachant au rôle du féminin dans l'imaginaire de l'écrivain.

About the Author :
Àngels Santa est professeure de littérature française à l'Université de Lleida en Catalogne (Espagne). Elle travaille sur le roman populaire et l'écriture féminine aux XIXe et XXe siècles et s'intéresse aussi à la réception de la littérature française en Espagne. Elle a soutenu une thèse sur Les idées politiques de Roger Martin du Gard à travers son oeuvre (Université de Barcelone, 1980) et a publié de nombreux articles sur Roger Martin du Gard et son époque. Elle a organisé en 1997 et en 2008 deux colloques sur l'oeuvre de Roger Martin du Gard à l'Université de Lleida.
