La presente obra propone al lector explorar la singular emergencia de ciertas ideas sobre cultura mediática y el proceso de mediatización producidas en un locus periférico como la Argentina entre 1965 y 1978, argumentando que algunas de aquellas ideas llegarían a alcanzar prominencia conceptual en el campo de los Estudios Culturales y Mediáticos en Europa y América del Norte durante los años noventa y en el nuevo milenio. El volumen ofrece un análisis, por un lado, de las experimentaciones y teorizaciones sobre el arte pop, los (anti)happenings y el arte mediático realizadas en el marco del Instituto Di Tella, y, por otro lado, de los debates teóricos y críticos entablados entre dos revistas y dos proyectos intelectuales especializados en el campo de las comunicaciones y la cultura de masas: Lenguajes y Comunicación y cultura. El autor ofrece un nuevo enfoque de la hasta el momento inexplorada contribución argentina a la genealogía de un discurso y de un concepto que hoy ha devenido central en la Teoría Cultural y Mediática contemporánea: la mediatización. Dentro del actual contexto de los debates internacionales interdisciplinarios sobre el proceso de mediatización, este libro se aventura a demostrar que las experimentaciones artísticas con materiales mediáticos, las reflexiones críticas y los debates que tuvieron lugar en los años sesenta y setenta argentinos, anticiparon algunas de las formulaciones claves del actual pensamiento post-estructural y post-metafísico sobre los medios.

About the Author :
Guillermo Olivera es Profesor de Culturas Visuales y Estudios Latinoamericanos en la Universidad de Stirling (Escocia, Gran Bretaña). Ha sido docente e investigador en las Universidades de Nottingham y Londres (Queen Mary), luego de su carrera académica en Argentina como investigador y Profesor Adjunto de Semiótica (Universidad Nacional de Córdoba). Investiga en el campo de la Semiótica, el Análisis del Discurso y la Crítica Cultural y, desde estas perspectivas, ha publicado artículos, traducciones, anotaciones y entrevistas sobre televisión, cine y cultura visual; Estudios Culturales y Mediáticos; discurso político y políticas identitarias GLTTB.
