About the Book

The book presents latest innovations enabling ultrafast, energy-efficient, and reliable technologies across electronic and photonic domains. The book advances beyond the foundations of previous volumes by integrating developments in wide- and ultra-wide-bandgap semiconductors, two-dimensional materials, ferroelectrics, and spintronics with novel device architectures including HEMTs, nanosheet and fork sheet FETs, TFETs, NC-FETs, and in-memory computing systems. Circuit-level topics encompass nanosheet-based RF building blocks, photonic–electronic hybrids, fault-tolerant VLSI, and advanced interconnects. Emphasis is also placed on terahertz and photonic frontiers, highlighting high-capacity communication, imaging, and quantum technologies. Application-driven perspectives include MEMS–AI healthcare platforms, stress hormone and dopamine biosensors, photovoltaic forecasting, and wide-bandgap devices for electric vehicles and smart grids. With contributions from international experts, the volume addresses both fundamental principles and real-world applications, serving as a valuable reference for graduate students, researchers, and professionals seeking insights into the future of high-speed electronics and optoelectronics.

Dr. Mariya Aleksandrova is currently Assoc. Professor of Fabrication technology of electronics at the Department of Microelectronics, Technical University of Sofia. She earned her Master of Electronic engineering at the same university in 2007, and her PhD in Fabrication technology of electronics in 2010. In her thesis work she pioneered the interface optimization in organic light-emitting devices with novel electron and hole transporting layers and deposition methods. After completing her PhD, Aleksandrova accepted a position as Assist. Prof. at the Department of Microelectronics (TU-Sofia) for 5 years. During that time, she developed new flexible polymeric light-emitting device. In 2015, Dr. Aleksandrova accepted an Associate Professor position at the same university. She has continued her work on flexible electronics, pioneering a special emphasis on energy harvesting in 2018. With constantly expanding scope, her group has evolved its focus in recent years to wearable electronics and thin-film supercapacitors integrated with energy harvesting and printed circuit board. At present she is head of laboratories "Thin-film electronics", "Photolithography" and "Quality and reliability in automotive electronics".
