About the Book

Lie group representation theory and harmonic analysis on Lie groups and their homogeneous spaces form a significant area of mathematical research. Interest in these areas began soon after World War II and has gained much strength since then. These areas are interrelated with various other mathematical fields such as number theory, algebraic geometry, differential geometry, operator algebra, partial differential equations, and mathematical physics. Keeping up with the fast development of this exciting area of research, Ali Baklouti (University of Sfax) and Takaaki Nomura (Kyushu University) launched a series of seminars on the topic. The main focus of these seminars was in the area of harmonic analysis, Lie theory, geometry and representation theory. Many experts from both countries have been involved in running this seminar and have contributed greatly to making seminars successful. This has been a major incentive for both Ali Baklouti and Hideyuki Ishi (Osaka University) to continue the organization of these meetings which aim at exploring topics such as commutative harmonic analysis (Fourier analysis on Euclidean spaces), analysis of homogeneous spaces, uncertainty principles, and geometric analysis and some of their interactions with operator algebras.

About the Author :
Ali Baklouti is a Full Professor of Mathematics at the University of Sfax, Tunisia. He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Metz (France) in 1995. He was elected Vice-President of the University of Sfax in December 2020 and President of the Tunisian Mathematical Society for two consecutive terms (April 2016-March 2019 and April 2019-March 2022). Additionally, he has served as Deputy Director of the Mediterranean Institute of Mathematical Sciences since January 2012. He was also nominated as a permanent member of the Tunisian Academy of Sciences, Letters, and Arts in December 2016. He has authored two major books, which are becoming fundamental references in the field. His first book, "Representation Theory of Solvable Lie Groups and Related Topics," is written jointly with Jean Ludwig (University of Metz) and Hidenori Fujiwara (University of Kinki, Japan) and is now published in the Springer Verlag Monograph Series 2021, and a second single-authored book "Deformation theory of discontinuous groups" in De Gruyter Expositions in Mathematics series 2022. He is the co-editor-in-chief of the "Tunisian Journal of Mathematics" published by M.S.P. (Berkeley, USA), and is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Advances in Pure and Applied Mathematics" by ISTE (UK). He is the winner of the Prize Pacom 2022-Mathematics: Category A of the African Mathematical Union, and the recipient of the "Royal Society Africa Prize for 2024, the United Kingdom". Hideyuki ISHI is a full Professor of Mathematics at Osaka Metropolitan University. He received his doctor degree from Kyoto University in 2000 under the direction of Takaaki NOMURA. He was a research director at JST PRESTO from 2016 to 2020. Since 2023, he has been the Vice-Director of Osaka Central Advanced Mathematical Institute (OCAMI) at Osaka Metropolitan University. He is working on representation theory of Lie groups, analysis of several complex variables, mathematical statistics, and information geometry. He has published 45 original papers in peer-reviewed academic journals and proceedings. He has organized several domestic and international academic meetings and also has delivered a number of invited talks.
