This book is a compendium of minimally invasive adhesive techniques employed in Restorative Dentistry. The ten chapters provide detailed practically oriented information on the full plethora of restorative techniques ranging from; dental bleaching of vital and non-vital units; the provision of composite resin bonding for functional optimisation and aesthetic enhancement; the management of Tooth Surface Loss and the restoration of endodontically treated teeth. There are also dedicated chapters on the restoration of various cavity class forms; the replacement of teeth utilising adhesive techniques through resin bonded bridges and the management of commonly presenting occlusal problems.    Readers will find clear and comprehensive explanations and stepwise clinical protocols for the delivery of direct and indirect adhesive restorations and their associated clinical procedures such as soft tissue management, optimising the adhesive bond and isolation techniques. About the Author :
Aws Alani BDS, MFDS RCS (Eng), MSc, FDS RCS (Eng), LLM, FHEA, MFDT, FCGDent. Aws graduated from King's College London in 2003. He completed dental foundation training in Essex and held junior hospital positions at Guy's Hospital and King's College Hospital, before completing an MSc in Endodontics at the Eastman Dental Institute. He then moved to Morriston Hospital in South Wales to work in the Maxillofacial Unit where he spent four years as a trainee. He subsequently moved to Newcastle, where he completed his specialist training in Restorative Dentistry. During his training he completed extensive relief work trips to Romania and Ghana with 'Young Smiles for Romania' and 'Global Brigades' respectively. In 2013, Aws became the International Team for Implantology Scholar in Toronto, Canada, working at the Hospital for Sick Children and Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. He returned to London in 2014 as an NHS Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at King's College Hospital. His main remit is the management of congenital and acquired defects within a multidisciplinary team environment. In 2022 he was appointed Associate Professor in Restorative Dentistry at Peninsula Dental School. He is a UK registered specialist in Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry. He has won numerous prizes and research grants from specialist societies and has lectured nationally and internationally. He has published over 50 peer reviewed publications, book chapters and textbooks. He also holds a Master's Degree in Medical Law from Cardiff University. He is the course director for the Diploma in Operative Dentistry at Kings College London, which looks to upskill general dental practitioners in a multifaceted manner through seminars, hands-on simulated exercises and clinical treatment. He is also course director for the MSc in Endodontics at Peninsula Dental School which is provided through blended learning with a focus on provision of root canal treatment minimally invasively with an emphasis on tooth tissue preservation and holistic restorative treatment planning. In 2025 he was invited onto the editorial board for the British Dental Journal. Mahul Patel BDS, MJDF RCS (Eng), MSc (RDP), MSc (Cons Dent), MPros RCS (Ed). Mahul graduated from King's College London in 2002 and completed two Master's degrees at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute in Restorative Dental Practice (2010) and Conservative Dentistry (2012). The latter was awarded with Distinction and the 3M ESPE postgraduate prize for excellence in clinical and academic achievement. He then gained Membership in Prosthodontics at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2014. Mahul is a former Specialty Dentist in Prosthodontics working for 9 years at King's College Dental Hospital. He currently works in private referral practice in London where the remit of his clinical work is largely associated with the provision of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics. In addition, he is a Senior Clinical Teacher at King's College London and a Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute where he teaches on various postgraduate Aesthetic, Restorative and Endodontic programmes. His research interests include the behaviour of restorative dental materials and novel methods of teaching practical hands-on prosthodontic techniques utilising digital media. He has lectured and presented nationally and internationally on a variety of clinical subjects and has published in peer-reviewed journals. He is a Key Opinion Leader and advisor for various multinational dental corporations.
