Dr. Wright started his carrier at USC Keck School of Medicine and Children's Hospital of Los Angeles serving for 10 years. He then was Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology at The Cleveland Clinic for three years before returning to Los Angeles. For over twenty years Dr. Wright has enjoyed teaching pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus fellows, and has alumni throughout the world. Dr. Wright has authored more than 100 scientific research papers and 7 textbooks on ophthalmology and eye surgery including the renowned thousand-page text; Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, by Oxford University Press, the award-winning Atlas of Strabismus Surgery, by Springer Publishing, and the top selling book Pediatric Ophthalmology for Primary Care, by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Wright founded the Wright Foundation for Pediatric Ophthalmology, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, whose mission is to reduce blindness and suffering from eye disorders in children and adults with strabismus through research, education, and clinical care. An important aspect of the foundation is to serve the underprivileged. Presently, he is Director of the Wright Foundation and has been appointed Adjunct professor at the prestigious Queen's University in Kingston Canada. Dr. Wright has operated on royalty, famous celebrities, and underserved children, but, however, as fate would have his youngest of five children developed crossed eyes in infancy. Rather than refer out, Dr. Wright performed "early surgery" on his own son with great results, as his son later became a top sharp shooter in the US Marines Corp. Many refer to Dr Wright as the GOAT of pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. Dr. Yi Ning J. Strube is an Associate Professor with Tenure in the Departments of Ophthalmology and Pediatrics at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. She is the Director of the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus Service at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and has served as President of the Canadian Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and the Chair of Continuing Education Committee for the Canadian Orthoptic Council. She is both a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology. She completed medical school and ophthalmology residency at Queen's University, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus with Dr. Kenneth W. Wright and the University of Southern California / Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Dr. Strube's interests include innovative strabismus surgical techniques, complex adult and pediatric strabismus, teaching, and medical writing, including contributing to several renowned pediatric ophthalmology textbooks. She is actively involved in and passionate about strabismus surgical training and simulation curriculum design, spearheading the use of the novel 3D-printed Strab Lab surgical simulation model she helped develop, which is now used for strabismus surgery education world-wide, for residents, fellows and practicing ophthalmologists. Dr. Strube has developed and delivered successful strabismus simulation workshops globally, many in collaboration with Dr. Ken Wright, including the first AAO Annual Meeting Strabismus Skills Transfer course for 10 years, and developing and delivering inaugural hands-on courses for the Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS) Annual Meeting, World Society of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (WSPOS), Women in Ophthalmology (WIO), International Strabismological Association (ISA), American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS), the EPOMEC meeting in Dubai, UAE and many more, including recent meetings in Kyrgyzstan and California sponsored by the Wright Foundation for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. Dr. Strube is passionate about contributing to global education in strabismus surgery, developing and delivering free educational webinars on strabismus surgery, including the Queen's University "Wright Strube Webinars" in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, participating in the first-ever live virtual strabismus surgery simulation trainee teaching with WSPOS, and collaborating with Dr. Wright for the live Cybersight ORBIS webinar demonstrating live strabismus surgery with the Strab Lab model and discussing the fundamentals of strabismus surgery.
