About the Author :
Gavin Ambrose is a practising graphic designer whose client base includes the arts sector, galleries, publishers and advertising agencies. He has written and designed several books on graphic design, branding and packaging. Paul Harris studied at the London College of Communication and has gone on to become a freelance writer and editor. His work has appeared extensively in magazines and journals on both sides of the Atlantic, including style bible Dazed & Confused.

Performs very well as an instant reference guide to the practice of typography. Concise yet detailed so light and manageable. Gives a great overview of the field, while providing inspiration. I'm pleased with the full-colour pages and the non-typical textbook format. A practical and affordable introduction to key concepts. Great layout. Order of content progresses nicely from history to usage. A nice introduction to a complex topic of great depth. This is a book I can see using as a main text for the class. The focus on nice imagery helps draw students through the readings. This is a very informative introduction to typography and has proved beneficial in my classroom. Excellent introduction to the subject. Comprehensive coverage of history, theory and practice. Written and illustrated with clarity for the beginner or those wishing to top-up their fundamental knowledge. A nice introduction to a complex topic of great depth. This is a book I can see using as a main text for the class. The focus on nice imagery helps draw students through the readings.
