About the Book

A silent fable about the quest for inspiration in the face of crushing writer's block... Not to mention the world's scariest fan! Death waits... But the Grim Reaper is beginning to lose patience! Famed author and rabbit-about-town Titus Caropin is stuck with a bad case of writer's block and keeps pushing back the release date on the seventh book in his best-selling series. He has run out of inspiration, and even all-night karaoke sessions with his buddies can't seem to bring the old magic back! But when Titus gets a visit from the Grim Reaper, his biggest fan who just wants an autograph (and Volume VII of his fave series), the mounting pressure to finish his latest book threatens to become unbearable. A wordless meditation on death and the creative process, VII is existential slapstick at its best - showcasing both the fluid style and narrative ingenuity of first-time author Thom, who proves that the right picture can truly be worth a thousand words. Winner of the Bedeis Causa Award for Best Debut Book.

About the Author :
Thom (Thomas Blais-Leblanc) was born in Montreal in 1993. He's been drawing comics since an early age, and many of his characters have been following him around for years. He studied cartooning at UQO, and it was during his final year at school that he started work on the wordless graphic novelVII, which became the first of his "Silent Fables" series and went on to win the prestigious Real-Fillion Award for Best Debut in 2018. His most recent book is Botanica Drama, which was nominated for the Quebec Booksellers Prize amongst other awards. When asked what he loves to draw the most, Thom answers without hesitation "animals," which will come as no surprise to his readers. He is currently working on a collaboration with the writer Alexandre Fontaine Rousseau.

Review :
"A sympathetic first work by a creative young cartoonist full of potential." —J. Milette, BDGest "A fabulous first book." —Jean-Dominic Leduc, Journal de Montréal
