About the Book

This multi-authored volume is the third to be dedicated to the science of core analysis. It contains the papers presented at the Third European Core Analysis Symposium (EUROCAS III), held under the auspices of the Society of Core Analysts, a chapter-at-large of the Society of Professional Well Log Analysts of Houston, Texas. This volume has the theme reservoir management. The papers are grouped thematically into five sections. Reservoir characterization encompasses the quantitative mapping of reservoir properties at the core and field scales. Capillary pressure includes measurement technique and the relationship of Pc data to rock and fluid properties. Fluid saturation covers the effect of sample preparation on the laboratory determination of oil predictorsk, and an evaluation of diverse measurements of residual oil saturation. Rock-fluid interaction encompasses the diagnostic capability of complex resistivity measurements for interface properties, the relationship of fractional (oil) wettability to hysteresis effects, the influence of fluid electrochemistry on wettability and thence two-phase flow, and a wettability appraisal of carbonate rocks. Displacement efficiency covers water-induced compaction in chalks during injection, drainage and imbibition characteristics of nodular porous media, and measurements of relative permeability using centrifuging and unsteady-state flooding.

Table of Contents:
