Cet ouvrage, qui complète Concurrences interrégionales Europe-Asie au XXIe siècle (PIE Peter Lang, 2015), s'interroge sur une institutionnalisation multilatérale de la coopération intégrative entre 'les' Asies: i) celle qui est en son coeur, l'Asie 'centrale' des cinq républiques indépendantes (Kazakhstan, Kirghizstan, Tadjikistan, Turkménistan, puis Ouzbékistan) ou l'Asie 'du Centre' à six ou sept avec l'Afghanistan et le Pakistan; ii) celle qui 'triangule le grand jeu' contemporain: l'Asie de l'Est avec la Chine, celle du Nord avec la Russie, celle du Sud avec l'Inde; iii) celle qui 'achève' ce continent renouvelé, l'Asie de l'Ouest avec l'Iran et la Turquie, voire une partie du Moyen Orient. Ses trente chapitres égrènent le nouveau concert d'Asie, reflétant un souci continental - chinois, kazakh, ouzbèk, russe - et des approches mêlant disciplines et ouvertures: histoire, diplomatie, science politique, conflict studies, etc., avec un point focal: placer la dimension régionale au centre des relations internationales d'après la guerre froide. Les auteurs, universitaires en poste dans les quinze pays affiliés à l'OCS, 'parlent' depuis l'Eurasie de l'Ouest (Europe), l'Asie de l'Est (Asean +) et l'Asie du Centre et du Sud. Nul ne peut dire l'avenir. Surtout pas en sciences sociales. Mais si le XXIe siècle 'doit être' régional, comme cela semble bien engagé, alors il sera en grande partie centralasiatique, cumulant le renouveau de la « terre centrale » (H. Mackinder) et le nouveau centrage de « l'économie-monde » (F. Braudel).

About the Author :
Pierre Chabal coordonne avec des collègues de nombreuses universités d'Asie les recherches dont cet ouvrage est issu. Ancien élève de l'IEP (Grenoble) et de l'IUE (Florence), ses travaux portent sur les dynamiques régionales et leurs motivations novatrices. En poste à l'Université du Havre et enseignant du campus Europe-Asie de Sciences-Po, il est professeur invité des universités nationales de Mongolie, du Kazakhstan et d'Ouzbékistan.
