Chacun conna�t son r�le: Marilyn, l'attach�e de presse, la Valkyrie, l'organisatrice des meetings, le petit Caligny, le plus jeune des conseillers, le Major, le directeur de campagne, et D�mosth�ne, l'intellectuel, qui r�dige les discours. Le Conseiller a sacrifi� sa vie pour ce moment et ce combat. Il croyait tout conna�tre de son r�le, jusqu'aux compromis et aux renoncements. Mais rien ne pouvait le pr�parer � ces mois de campagne, aux trahisons dont seuls sont capables ceux qui convoitent � tout prix le pouvoir. Surtout, il doit faire face aux soup�ons de fraude qui entachent la victoire de son patron � la primaire et qui pour la premi�re fois l'oblige � questionner l'honn�tet� de son candidat et par l� m�me le sens de cette vie militante. Le portrait saisissant, et d'une terrible humanit�, de tous ceux qui se consacrent � la vie politique et en ma�trisent les arcanes, � travers l'intimit� d'un homme, h�ros solitaire, souvent dans l'ombre, toujours oubli� le premier des conseillers.

Edouard Philippe est Premier ministre. Il a �t� d�put� et maire du Havre et l'auteur de deux romans avec Gilles Boyer, L'heure de v�rit� (2009) et Dans l'ombre (2012). Gilles Boyer, 44 ans, pere de deux filles, a plusieurs vies. Dans l une d elles, il ecrit des livres.
