About the Book

Heidegger est, sans aucun doute, l'un des penseurs occidentaux les plus importants. Il décrivait lui-même sa philosophie comme une ontologie fondamentale, car il avait à coeur de mettre à jour les fondements les plus profonds de la compréhension humaine du monde. Ce qui l'intéresse, au-delà des disciplines scientifiques individuelles, c'est le sens qui sous-tend l'entièreté de notre existence. C'est pourquoi sa question centrale est: Quel est le sens de l'être ? Mais selon Heidegger, si nous nous demandons quel est le sens de l'être et donc le sens de la vie, il nous faut tout d'abord explorer qui pose cette question. Il s'agit de l'Homme lui-même, seul être vivant dans le monde capable de poser cette question, et qui se doit donc de la poser. L'Homme cherche en permanence une orientation. C'est la raison pour laquelle Heidegger décrit l'existence humaine comme un immense défi. Car bien loin de se vivre d'elle-même, elle nécessite au contraire de prendre en permanence des décisions. Et ce faisant, il se peut que nous passions totalement à côté du sens de notre vie. Heidegger émet l'hypothèse provoquante que la majorité des gens vivent dans un mode inauthentique du Dasein. Il nous confronte au fait que nous ne faisons, en général, que reproduire ce que l' on fait. On va à l'école, on fait des études, on essaie de gagner le plus d'argent possible, on part en vacances. Au lieu de réaliser notre propre vie, nous nous contentons de suivre les sentiers battus par les autres. Mais comment savoir quelle vie me correspond ? Comment trouver ma vocation ?
