Un diptyque Les deux volumes, Les Paradisiaques, Sordidissimes, forment un diptyque. D'un cote le lieu enchante, de l'autre cote l'objet d'epouvante. Comme dans les contes, c'est l'objet sordide qui permet de s'introduire dans le lieu le plus doux. Il s'agit d'un couple indissociable. Face au monde uterin qu'on quitte dans la naissance, le monde souterrain ou on entre dans la mort. Face au lieu perdu involontairement, l'objet qu'on perd activement en le placant aupres de la depouille. Face au site introuvable ou le corps se fabrique, la tombe qu'on cherche a signaler a la communaute avec des pierres qu'on amoncelle. Les paradisiaques Les trois premiers tomes de Dernier royaume etaient consacres a un temps etrange, le jadis. Le jadis est un temps mysterieux qui s'oppose au passe. Inoriente, il travaille le present comme la foudre le ciel, comme la lave le fond de la terre, comme le big bang le fond de l'univers, comme la pulsion inconsciente le fond de l'ame. Les Paradisiaques - le tome IV de Dernier royaume - est consacre a un espace etrange, le paradis. L'espace ou le temps mysterieux du jadis jouit est le paradis. C'est le lieu sans faute, humide, doux, vert, perpetuellement printanier. C'est le lieu immobile, irradiant, ou a lieu le coup de foudre de l'amour. Dans ce lieu on ignore tous ceux qu'on avait cru connaitre. Dans ce lieu on reconnait sur-le-champ celui ou celle qu'on ignore. C'est la definition du coup de foudre. Frappe par la foudre se disait en latin fanatique . Les amants sont les seuls vrais fanatiques. Les Paradisiaques contiennent 42 contes sur la reconnaissance impossible de ceux qui se sont aimes. Pascal Quignard est ne en 1948 a Verneuil-sur-Avre (France). Il vit a Paris. Il est romancier (Carus, Le Salon du Wurtemberg, Les Escaliers de Chambord, Tous les matins du monde, Terrasse a Rome, Villa Amalia, Les Solidarites mysterieuses). Il a ecrit de nombreux essais ou la fiction est melee a la reflexion (Petits Traites, 1981-1990, tomes I a VIII). Le premier tome de Dernier Royaume, Les ombres errantes, a obtenu le prix Goncourt en 2002. Mourir de penser est le tome IX de Dernier Royaume.
