Il met en sc�ne Mademoiselle Beaunon qui n'�tait autre que la secr�taire de Paul B�che, h�ros des Sous-ensembles flous. Aux yeux de tous, cette femme discr�te passe pour �tre une vieille fille. Mademoiselle Beaunon se moque des racontars. Sa vie est en effet loin de ressembler � ce qu'on imagine. Chaque dimanche apr�s-midi, elle pr�te son appartement � sa ni�ce, Yolande pour qu'elle puisse recevoir son amoureux. Pendant ce temps, la suppos�e triste tante parcourt Paris, visitant le mus�e Rodin dans l'unique but de rencontrer un amant pour la journ�e. Et, chaque dimanche, elle parvient � ses fins. C'est moins l'assouvissement du d�sir que l'excitation de la rencontre qui motive ses escapades. Mademoiselle Beaunon a un secret: elle adore mentir; chaque amant a le droit � une nouvelle histoire, un nouveau pr�nom, de nouvelles origines. Si les hommes d�filent, ils ne comptent pas puisqu'un seul a jamais eu de l'importance: Paul B�che, son ancien patron d�c�d�. Du moins, jusqu'au jour o� un gar�on, parmi la cohorte des flirts, finit par se distinguer... Apr�s des �tudes au lyc�e Condorcet, Jacques Laurent (1919-2000), entreprend une licence de philosophie que la d�claration de guerre vient interrompre. Il est c�l�bre pour avoir, toute sa vie, men� de front une carri�re d'�crivain populaire sous le pseudonyme de C�cil Saint-Laurent, et une carri�re d'�crivain � s�rieux � sous son vrai nom. Il est apparent� aux � hussards �, la nouvelle droite litt�raire des ann�es 50. En 1971, il re�oit le prix Goncourt pour Les B�tises, puis, est �lu � l'Acad�mie fran�aise en 1986. Son roman Caroline Ch�rie (paru sous le pseudonyme de C�cil Saint-Laurent en 1947) est triomphalement adapt� au cin�ma en 1967 avec Martine Carol dans le r�le titre.
