About the Author :
Apres des etudes au lycee Condorcet, Jacques Laurent (1919-2000), entreprend une licence de philosophie que la declaration de guerre vient interrompre. Il est celebre pour avoir, toute sa vie, mene de front une carriere d'ecrivain populaire sous le pseudonyme de Cecil Saint-Laurent, et une carriere d'ecrivain serieux sous son vrai nom. Il est apparente aux hussards, la nouvelle droite litteraire des annees 50. En 1971, il recoit le prix Goncourt pour Les Betises, puis, est elu a l'Academie francaise en 1986. Son roman Caroline Cherie (paru sous le pseudonyme de Cecil Saint-Laurent en 1947) est triomphalement adapte au cinema en 1967 avec Martine Carol dans le role titre.
