About the Author :
Pierre-Michel Menger a fait des etudes de philosophie a l'Ecole normale superieure de la rue d'Ulm, puis un doctorat de sociologie a l'EHESS, sous la direction de Raymonde Moulin. Avant de devenir, en 2013, professeur au College de France, titulaire de la chaire de Sociologie du travail createur, il a mene sa carriere au CNRS. Depuis 1995, il est aussi directeur d'etudes a l'EHESS, ou il a dirige le laboratoire de sociologie du travail et des arts jusqu'en 2005. Il est par ailleurs co-directeur de la Revue francaise de sociologie. Ses recherches et ses publications ont porte d'abord sur la musique contemporaine, ses compositeurs, ses nouvelles technologies et ses publics, puis sur les systemes d'emploi et les carrieres dans les arts du spectacle, avec leurs atypies contractuelles et organisationnelles. Plus recemment, il a etudie les formes de fragmentation du salariat sur le marche general du travail. Ses recherches actuelles portent notamment sur les transformations des carrieres et des emplois dans l'enseignement superieur et la recherche. Les outils de sa sociologie ont ete forges au contact de la sociologie du travail, de l'analyse theorique de l'action et des interactions, ainsi que de l'analyse economique des comportements et des choix en horizon incertain.
