Ce livre est mon testament theologique, dit l'auteur, car cette etude ardue et redoutee m'a apportee la lumiere sur toute la theologie, toute la philosophie, les sciences et surtout l'homme: la famille, la societe, le genre humain. Apres un ouvrage tres fouille paru l'annee derniere, le pere Laurentin sort une etude plus accessible et synthetique sur la Trinite. Le premier etablissait les fondements. Celui-ci reprend par la racine, elague, simplifie et prolonge la meme evidence, plus brievement et plus simplement. Quatre parties: 1. Les flashes meconnus de la Revelation. 2. L'histoire bimillenaire du dogme. 3. Une evocation contemplative qui decante tout. 4. Comment en vivre (et l'exemple revelateur de Marie). Dieu est Amour. Et l'Amour revele finalement le sens et la coherence de tout le reste. C'est d'actualite, c'est l'avenir de la theologie. Sait-on ce que c'est que l'Amour ? Cette theologie est aussi une theologie de la Relation. Les sciences ont abandonne la substance et ne pensent plus que relation au risque du relativisme et de l'agnosticisme. A sa rencontre, la theologie n'a cesse de donner une place croissante a la relation a partir du dernier mot de l'Ecriture: Dieu est Amour. Donc Dieu est relation: modele, principe et terme de toute relation. Il en resulte une lumiere qui unifie toute connaissance. Elle reunit theologie et sciences, ses soeurs ennemies, par ce concept commun a deux niveaux complementaires. Elle exorcise ainsi le relativisme qui menace notre culture. Tout est relation y compris Dieu-Amour. Ce livre a le caractere d'un testament mais aussi d'un projet d'avenir. Il s'inscrit dans le projet de Jean Paul II pour le Jubile le Pape a consacre a la Trinite non seulement l'an 2000 mais tout le millenaire. Rene Laurentin, docteur es lettres, professeur en plusieurs universites francaises et etrangeres, a ete expert du concile Vatican II puis membre du conseil de redaction de la revue theologique internationale Concilium. Couronne de 12 prix internationaux, il a ecrit une centaine d'ouvrages et autant d'articles dans des revues de recherche. Sur les trois Personnes de la Trinite, il a deja publie La Vie authentique de Jesus Christ (2 vol., Fayard, 1996), L'Esprit Saint, cet inconnu et L'Esprit Saint, source de vie (Fayard, 19971998), Dieu, notre Pere (Fayard, 1998) et une somme: La Trinite, mystere et lumiere (Fayard, 1999).

About the Author :
L'abbe Rene Laurentin est ne en 1917. Theologien, exegete et historien, il est notamment specialiste des apparitions mariales. Il fut longtemps chroniqueur religieux au Figaro. Ancien expert au Concile Vatican II, membre de l'Academie theologique pontificale de Rome et professeur a l'Universite catholique de l'Ouest, il intervient egalement dans plusieurs universites d'Amerique et d'Italie. En 1996, il recoit le prix de la culture catholique. L'abbe Rene Laurentin est l'auteur d'un nombre considerable d'ouvrages, en particulier, L'Esprit Saint cet Inconnu (Fayard, 1998), Les Apparitions de Lourdes: Recit authentique, illustre de documents de l'epoque (Lethielleux, 2002), Nouveau Diatessaron (Fayard, 2002), Marie Deluil-Martiny: Precurseur et martyre beatifiee par Jean-Paul II (Fayard, 2003), Petite vie de Catherine Laboure (Desclee de Brouwer, 2004), Petite vie de Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort (Desclee de Brouwer, 2005) et Memoires: Chemin vers la lumiere (Fayard, 2005).
