Depuis quelques annees, l'essor des Technologies d'Information et de Communication (TIC) - Internet et la telephonie mobile, entre autres - est en train de reconfigurer nos vies. Mais nous ne sommes pas tous egaux devant les TIC. Si les adultes entretiennent avec elles un rapport essentiellement fonctionnel, il n'en va pas de meme des adolescents de 2006. Ayant grandi un portable dans une main, une souris dans l'autre, ces jeunes sont en train d'inventer une nouvelle culture numerique, dont les codes leur sont specifiques. Derriere leurs ecrans et grace a leurs claviers magiques, ils se jouent des identites, des savoirs, de l'orthographe et des autres. La jungle technologique est devenue leur terrain de jeu favori. Les ados y passent un temps infini, ce qui inquiete a bon droit les parents. Il s'agit ici d'eclairer parents et enseignants, pour leur permettre d'accompagner cette revolution culturelle, familiale et sociale: pourquoi les ados de 2006 se sont-ils appropries les "nouvelles machines a communiquer" avec autant de ferveur et de frenesie ? Qu'en est-il de l'ideologie de la communication ambigue dans laquelle baignent ces jeunes, et des dangers de la "cyber-addiction"? Enfin peut-on vraiment parler d'une crise de la culture dite classique, et de la metamorphose des relations a l'ere des reseaux ? Le pouce et la souris propose une plongee dans la culture numerique - MSN, Google, blogs, telechargement, jeux en reseau ou encore "parler SMS" -, tout en donnant des cles inestimables pour mieux comprendre le rapport si naturel liant les adolescents aux TIC.

Pascal Lardellier est professeur en sciences de la communication a l'universite de Bourgogne (Dijon). Il est l'auteur de plusieurs ouvrages de sociologie, dont, notamment, Le Coeur Net. Celibat et amours sur le Web (Belin, 2004), Les Nouveaux rites. Du mariage gay aux Oscars (Belin, 2005), Le Pouce et la souris: Enquete sur la culture numerique des ados (Fayard, 2006). Il s'exprime regulierement dans les medias sur les appropriations sociales des nouvelles technologies et les phenomenes de societe - entre autres.
