Convaincus que ce bel inconnu n'est autre que Louis XVII miraculeusement evade du Temple, les Chalonnais reconstituent autour de lui une cour fantasque et insolente. Seul contre tous, Lecacheur s'acharne a mener l'enquete. Il recueille les temoignages, dejoue les pieges qu'une main invisible s'ingenie a semer sur sa route et demele peu a peu un echeveau ou se confondent secrets de famille et vertigineux secrets d'Etat. Avec ce nouveau personnage d'enqueteur, Frederic Lenormand nous entraine a la decouverte d'une des epoques les plus mouvementees et les plus mysterieuses de l'histoire de France. Age de 36 ans, Frederic Lenormand est l'auteur de plusieurs romans et de pieces jouees sur scene et a la radio. Il a recu le prix Francois Mauriac de l'Academie francaise en 1999 pour Les Princesses vagabondes (Lattes), le prix Thyde Monnier de la Societe des gens de lettres, le prix du jeune romancier de la Fondation Hachette, ainsi que la bourse Del Duca du premier roman. Il est l'auteur aux editions Fayard de La jeune fille et le philosophe (2000).

About the Author :
Ne en 1964, Frederic Lenormand est romancier. Des 1988, il publie cinq romans successifs et obtient le prix Del Duca du jeune romancier pour Le Songe d'Ursule. Frederic Lenormand s'installe alors a New York, ou il ecrit Les Fous de Guernesey (Robert Laffont, 1991). Au debut des annees 1990, il decroche un grand nombre de recompenses, dont la bourse du Jeune Romancier de la Fondation Hachette, la bourse de la Villa Medicis Hors les Murs, le prix Thyde-Monnier de la Societe des Gens de Lettres, et le prix Francois-Mauriac de l'Academie francaise. Apres un cycle de romans historiques divers, il se specialise dans le XVIIIe siecle. Frederic Lenormand publie deux etudes, abordant des sujets jusque la jamais traites, La Pension Belhomme (Fayard, 2002) et Douze tyrans minuscules (Fayard, 2003), puis decide de donner une suite aux romans chinois de Robert van Gulik, decede en 1967.
