Si la memoire collective a retenu les noms de certains mouvements de resistance interieure - Combat, Franc-Tireur, Liberation -, il n'en est pas de meme du reseau Brutus, fonde pourtant des septembre 1940. L'historien Jean-Marc Binot et Bernard Boyer, fils d'un des chefs du reseau, depeignent enfin avec precision ce qui fut l'un des premiers groupes des services secrets de la France libre. Cree par Pierre Fourcaud, alias Lucas, le reseau Brutus a ceci de particulier qu'il regroupe des hommes et des femmes aux horizons et aux idees politiques differents, symbole d'une resistance unie dont le seul but est de combattre l'Allemagne et le regime de Vichy. Boris Fourcaud (le frere de Pierre), sous le pseudo de Froment, et un jeune avocat marseillais, Andre Boyer, alias Bremond, vont patiemment tisser une veritable toile d'araignee a travers toute la France, afin de recolter un maximum de renseignements au profit des Allies. Visionnaires, les deux hommes lancent l'idee d'un organe federant les mouvements de resistance, les partis politiques et les syndicats, sous l'autorite du general de Gaulle, projet qui aboutit a la constitution du Conseil national de la Resistance en 1943. Andre Boyer devient alors le chef du reseau Brutus. Tout au long de la guerre, malgre le danger, les arrestations, les agents infiltres par l'Abwehr, le reseau Brutus transmet a Londres l'emplacement des unites allemandes, le detail des fortifications du mur de l'Atlantique, les positions des rampes de V1, les resultats des raids aeriens... Plus de soixante ans apres la fin de la Deuxieme Guerre mondiale, il etait temps de rendre ce bel hommage aux hommes et aux femmes qui ont lutte pour l'honneur de leur pays jusqu'au sacrifice de leur vie, et de faire revivre leur epopee a partir de temoignages exceptionnels et d'archives encore jamais exploitees.

Bernard Boyer est le fils d'Andre Boyer chef du reseau Brutus. Ancien fonctionnaire onusien, il est responsable de projets pour des ONG en Afrique (Guinee, Madagascar, Cote d'Ivoire) et au Sri Lanka.
