About the Book

Lottie’s brother tries to persuade her to try a different fruit when they find that the supermarket is out of pears. But, in Lottie’s eyes, will anything ever compare to a pear? Self-regulation refers to our ability to control our thinking, behaviours, emotional reactions and social interactions to achieve our goals or react appropriately to the situation – even if it is difficult to do so. This book aims to support children to follow social conventions, be helpful, control their emotional reactions and persist in the face of challenge. Hallmarks of social and emotional self-regulation.

About the Author :
Simon Chadwick is an author, illustrator and cartoonist based in the New Forest in the UK. He’s created over twenty children’s books to date. Simon’s cartoon work has appeared on children’s material for many of the UK’s leading restaurant, leisure and travel brands, and for clients in the UK, America, Canada, South Korea, Greece, the Middle East and Australia. He particularly enjoys drawing wildlife, fantastical beasts, monsters and dinosaurs. Especially dinosaurs. Dr Steven Howard is a researcher with Early Start at University of Wollongong in Australia. His program of research investigates the development of self-regulation and related abilities in the early years of life, as well as the educational implications of these changing capacities. In addition to his work around supporting children’s self-regulation development (this series and Quincey Quokka’s Quest), he is also a co-founder of the iPad-based Early Years Toolbox to assess preschoolers’ executive functioning and self-regulation (to which Simon Chadwick was also a contributor).
