About the Book

Are you about to go through the dreaded two-week wait (TWW) after an IVF cycle or other fertility treatment?

Are you feeling stressed about how on earth you're going to get to test day and still be sane?

It's natural to be anxious and worried because you've invested so much to get to this point. But you are not alone. Wouldn't it help you to read other women's stories who've survived this dreaded 'wait'?

Whether you've done IVF or another fertility treatment, the days until you can trust the pregnancy test result are both scary and exciting. Wondering whether your embryo(s) has snuggled in and is sticking around has to be one of the hardest times on this journey to becoming a parent.

In This is the Two Week Wait, you'll read:

  • whether it's a good idea to test early, or not
  • that we all analyze ever twinge, cramp and 'feeling'
  • that it's normal for your emotions to range from incredible hope to utter desperation, in a matter of minutes and
  • some top tips for managing your two-week wait with beauty and calmness.

This is the Two Week Wait should be required reading for:

  • someone who's never been through IVF/fertility treatment
  • patient facing staff who have never experienced infertility or fertility treatment themselves
  • practitioners who are supporting infertile men and women, and
  • health care professionals who are caring for men and women who are pregnant after fertility treatment.

If you're one of the above, you'll now understand how brutal fertility treatment is, and these stories will help steer you away from saying unintentional insensitive comments.

For every sale, a small donation is made to a fertility charity in the country the sale was made in.

About the Author :
Sheila Lamb had a six-year infertility journey that involved a diagnosis of unexplained infertility, two unsuccessful fertility treatment cycles, an early pregnancy loss after a donor egg cycle, investigations into natural killer cells and thrombophilia, and a successful second donor egg cycle. Her rainbow baby was born in 2011, a week after her forty-seventh birthday. This life-changing experience has led her to support the trying to conceive (TTC) and baby loss communities, by publishing her Fertility Books series - a collection of true-life short stories, straight from the heart about the emotional realities of infertility, IVF, the two-week wait, and loss, from women and men passionate about offering their support. Review :

"What you'll get from reading (This is the Two Week Wait), will be a massive virtual hug from a lot of people who really understand what you're going through. It's like sitting down with your mates and having an honest, open chat; leaving you feeling warm, understood, validated and maybe even with a bit of a spring in your step. Because whatever happens: you are not alone" - Alice Rose, Fertility Life Raft Podcast, @thisisalicerose, thisisalicerose.com and catandalice.com

"The Fertility Journey is a unique and unprecedented time for a couple or anyone desiring a child. Two moment's in a woman's life are memorable: the first is when she feels it's time to have a baby and the second is when she believes there is a reproductive problem. While the former decision involves joyful anticipation and excitement, the latter creates the myriad of emotions that all infertility patients are reminded of on a daily basis. Hence the common "rollercoaster ride" analogy ensues with the peak of the ride occurring at the time of attempted conception, i.e. either at ovulation timed intercourse, intrauterine insemination or embryo transfer. With increasing investment - physically, emotionally and financially - the height increases and is manifested by the potential negative toll on the woman and couple. Sheila Lamb's This is the Two Week Wait captures the essence of this ride for all those challenged to build a family. She instills expertise, garnered from her personal experience, to empower the reader, infuses hope and positivity as well as encouraging mental and physical health. The 'TWW' may seem like 'two years' but we must remember a helpful definition of stress, 'trying to control something you cannot.' Fortunately, Sheila's latest book, part of a series of invaluable 'This is' guides, is a stress buster!" - Dr Mark P. Trolice, MD, FACOG, FACS, FACE. Director, Fertility CARE: The IVF Center. Professor, UCF College of Medicine. Author of "The Fertility Doctor's Guide to Overcoming Infertility"
