About the Book

A diseased town--long hidden beneath a lake--rises from the depths to become a focus of the war between humankind and the Kin. There exists a secret and highly illegal trade in mythological creatures and their artifacts. Certain individuals pay fortunes for a sliver of a satyr's hoof, a gryphon's claw, a basilisk's scale, or an angel's wing. Embroiled in the hidden world of the Relics, creatures known as the Kin, Angela Gough is now on the run in the United States. Forty years ago the town of Longford was the site of a deadly disease outbreak that wiped out the entire population. The infection was contained, the town isolated, and the valley in which it sits flooded and turned into a reservoir. The truth--that the outbreak was intentional, and not every resident of Longford died--disappeared beneath the waves. Now the town is revealed again. The Kin have an interest in the ruins, and soon the fairy Grace and the Nephilim leader Mallian are also drawn to them. The infection has risen from beneath silent waters, and this forgotten town becomes the focus of the looming battle between humankind and the Kin.

About the Author :
Tim Lebbon is a New York Times bestselling writer from South Wales. He's had over forty novels published to date, as well as hundreds of novellas and short stories. He has won four British Fantasy Awards, a Bram Stoker Award, and a Scribe Award, and has been a finalist for World Fantasy, International Horror Guild, and Shirley Jackson Awards. His work has appeared in numerous "Year's Best" anthologies. Esther Wane is a multiple Earphone Award-winning British narrator on over 430 titles. he is thrilled to narrate in many genres ranging from history to neuroscience, spicy romance to thriller, and with a particular love of historical fiction. She loves historical novels so much she decided to write one, based on the work of the first woman barrister to practice in England. Esther has been described as silky-voiced by The Times but her proudest moments are when a writer says she has captured the voice in their head or brought life to characters in a way they hadn't expected. As a writer herself she knows exactly how much time, care and love is invested in those pages. Esther enjoys playing with accents and character voices and has a host of British, European and American accents to draw from. As well as her natural RP voice she has expanded her repertoire to narrate in Southern and Northern Irish accents, British Northern, Welsh, British South- East, mid-Atlantic and General American. Esther speaks French, Italian and some German and Spanish so is comfortable with their pronunciation. She also been known to wrap her larynx around Polish, Russian and Icelandic words as well as some Latin and Ancient Greek.

Review :
"In this dark, alternative universe, patrons pay handsomely for mythical creatures and their artifacts. Now, in the finale, humankind and kin are drawn to a city once annihilated by disease, and the battle there could determine the survival of both races. By focusing on his characters, Lebbon strikes a balance between the book's cosmic-scale stakes and personal stories." -- "Booklist" "If Anne Rice and Clive Barker had written a story together, it might have looked something like this novel." -- "James Rollins, New York Times bestselling author" "Tim Lebbon has created yet another wonderful world...which will likely remind [readers] of both Neil Gaiman and Clive Barker." -- "Cemetery Dance"
