Questo libretto satirico e un vero e proprio scherzo letterario pubblicato per la prima volta nel 1652, in ambienti culturali che orbitavano intorno all'Accademia degli Incogniti di Venezia. Dal momento della sua riscoperta, avvenuta nell'Ottocento l'Alcibiade fanciullo a scola, divenne oggetto di numerose interpretazioni critiche: parodia licenziosa dei testi classici sull'amore socratico; divertissement di un intellettuale ateo e annoiato, satira di costume rivolta contro i professori universitari suoi contemporanei o testo erotico? L'opera e considerata oggi un classico di storia dell'omosessualita e di storia del dissenso religioso. All'interno de l'Alcibiade, Antonio Rocco mette in scena un pericoloso e paradossale capovolgimento della morale tradizionale: operazione apparentemente satirica e quasi burlesca, ma di gusto tipicamente libertino. Lo fa intervenendo sul paradigma maestro/allievo, codificato nel topos culturale e letterario della pederastia nella cultura dell'Antica Grecia. Ribaltando il Simposio di Platone, a cui l'opera s'ispira dichiaratamente, l'autore attribuisce all'allievo Alcibiade la parte del sedotto, mentre lascia quella del seduttore al maestro Filotimo, il quale mirava a ottenere il consenso sessuale dell'allievo, sostenendo un surreale encomio della pederastia e della sodomia.

About the Author :
Antonio Rocco rappresento una delle voci piu anticonformiste dell'ambiente filosofico e anticlericale della Repubblica di Venezia. Nato a Scurcola Marsicana (L'Aquila) nel 1586, prima di approdare in terra veneta perfeziono i suoi studi a Roma e a Perugia; giunto infine a Padova, entro in contatto con la filosofia dell'aristotelismo eterodosso di stampo naturalistico. Si introdusse, fin dal suo arrivo a Venezia, negli ambienti accademici della Repubblica di Venezia. Fu un intellettuale legato al libertinismo e all'Aristotelismo eretico. Di questa sua militanza filosofica e testimonianza soprattutto la sua strenua battaglia contro Galileo Galilei nel nome della visione aristotelica della scienza, anche se allo stesso tempo Rocco fu uno strenuo critico nei confronti dell'ortodossia cattolica. Secondo quanto si legge nelle Glorie degli Incogniti fu il professore di filosofia e di retorica di piu di trecento studenti. Ridotto infine all'infermita, Antonio Rocco mori a Venezia nel 1653.
